App Sucks. The app is consistently buggy, and now I can't send the robot to a specific spot because of whatever lacks in communication between the machine and the app. I have had to uninstall and reinstall the app several times. At this point, I'll just spend the money on a better one. Also, there is no option to make that there are no carpets in the home, so I get pop-ups every time I open the app.
The app is garbage. It won't connect to my wifi. My password is correct, I've rebooted several times, everything else connects fine. Half the time the vacuum doesn't even clean the whole map, and it won't even go when scheduled. I'm so beyond frustrated because I paid money for something to help me keep my place cleaner, but I often just need to manually vacuum myself which makes this purchase worthless.
I've marked no go zones, and even made them larger later. It doesn't make a difference, the vacuum still goes right through them. I've had two different, new, robot vacuums. Both ignore the no go zones I've setup. I can't get the robot to stop using the "Go to dock" feature on the app. The so takes forever to load and move from section to section. I've never seen an app go this slow. All other apps on my phone work fine for the most part. This app sucks.
I don't understand this app being in control of a very good vacuum! It takes 30 seconds to load each page. No exaggeration it's slow! Although it has a schedule and individual rooms. You cannot schedule an individual room! This would be great to save battery and returns to the base. Efficiency! I'm not sure what the software engineers were thinking! I believe shark would have a special package if this app worked as well as the vacuum does. PLEASE take these changes into consideration!
Not a well made app. It seems to have the best intentions, but fails to follow through. for example, there is a schedule feature that allows you to program when the unit runs. However, if you need to skip one you can't without canceling the whole damn program. Next, the app is slow and clunky and frequently fails to open all the way to manage the unit. Also, they advertise that this is good with pet hair, it isnt. Not event a little.
The whole thing malfunctions...I've had my bot for about 3 years now... Ever since day one, my bot can never make it back to the charging station, even when there is nothing around it. The map used to show up on my app when I first got it, but then it disappeared, so now I can't remap after I've moved. Very disappointing. A little piece of dog food automatically stops your bot. I'm glad this was a birthday gift and not my own personal money spent on it..
This app is awful. It makes you sign in every time you open it which is the opposite of convenient. It allows you to schedule a clean but only once a week. I got it because I have dogs and I wanted to run it every day. Now I have to get on the app, log on, reset all the settings, then start it. Every day. Takes the convenience away which is the point of the robovac. I will give the device a lot of credit. It works great! It definitely lessens the load of dog hair. Just the app is annoying.
I just moved. despite my phone, laptop, and other devices being connected to the wifi and the vacuum being less than 10 feet away from the router I cannot connect the vacuum to the wifi. not only is the app not finding my wifi, its not finding any of the networks in my building that every other device sees just fine. there should be a way to change the wifi settings without having to "add a new robot" but there's not one that I have found.
I'm happy with the vacuum, but the app is so bad that I can't recommend purchasing one. The app freezes, crashes, or is just painfully slow. It periodically forgets the map of my house and names of the rooms, which means the vacuum needs to relearn - a process that takes 4-5 hours because the vacuum has to completely recharge itself about 20 minutes before it would otherwise finish. Trying to merge and split rooms in the app is excruciating. Total frustration.
Make sure you get your wifi password correct when you're pairing your robot for the first time as there is no way to redo it once you've proceeded. The robot will just continue trying to pair forever and even if you delete and reinstall the app it remembers the wrong password from the first time and skips the part where you could re-enter it. Uninstalling and deleting the cache and data did not help. Edit: Will also not send password change email. App just freezes. Edit 2: This app sucks.
Overall, it's a good product. Does the job getting around easily. The ability to pick rooms on my map is great. However, adding areas on the map is almost impossible. Also, there is no way to schedule specific rooms or areas for the schedule. It's do the whole house or nothing. Vacuum can't do a whole house on one charge. Fix schedule to do by room, and it would be a five-star product.
So far, in 3 months' time, I have had to re-map my house 2 times, and now it has completely unregistered my robot and will not reconnect it. I've uninstalled, reinstalled, and tried again. No luck. it connects to the robot, connects to the internet, but won't register. My robot is currently just spinning circles, not knowing what to do. Heaven forbid Shark gives us a remote control.
There are a few issues with this app. 1. The app will randomly log me out requiring me to log in again, and again, and again. 2. The app has to be used on the phone. It will not work on my tablet which is usually at home. It seems weird to me. 3. It isn't very intuitive. In order to size the rooms properly, you have to zoom in. I did not find documentation saying this. I discovered it by trial and error. The vacuum works wonderfully though. I only have issues with the app, not the device.
I don't use most of the features in the app so I can't speak on how well the overall features/settings work. The one thing that drives me and my wife nuts is the need to login with a user name and password EACH AND EVERY TIME. At least give the option to use biometrics, or allow an option to stay logged in on the device.
Overall good. missing basic things though. Wish you could schedule only certain rooms to be cleaned instead of the entire house. Also when you select room clean it would be nice if one room wouldn't be selected automatically. Remapping if you reorganize the room would be nice, instead of having to delete and start over...
7/5: Currently useless. The app made me pair the device to the app again when I recently accessed the app to check on how the device was running, and tells me that my wifi password is wrong, which is not the case, so after being on the phone with support for 40 minutes, nothing has been resolved. Update - still nothing has changed as of 7/29........
I love my shark robot but the app isn't that great. It logs me out too often. I don't have my password memorized nor do I want to memorize it. The app also deleted all of my saved rooms and my no-go zone. So the robot went into the no-go zone and ran into my animal's water bowl spilling water and sucking it up into the vacuum. It also damaged the silicone water tray that is used to keep the water from spilling onto the hardwood floor and tore it. This app needs fixing. STOP LOGGING ME OUT!!
The app is fine. Would like to have a little bit more control of my device. Yeah when I tell it to do something like the kitchen. It acts like it don't know where it's going or it's lost. Plus would like you guys to fix this part that it keeps on signing me out when I sign in for a while then it signs me out. Don't like that I have to keep on signing in
Shark is too big of a company to have such a slow and limited app. App needs to be a little more advanced. There needs to be an option to set the time for Evacuation and Resume. after 15 minutes it's full of hair and doesn't fully empty. 30 minutes is too long of a time. Using RV1001AE UPDATE: WITH AV2501AE app is better. Still primitive vs other robot vac apps though from smaller companies
please show a notification through the phone notifications when the robot didn't park right to charge on its base. right now I assume it's all good, but then I go away for a day, open the app, to discover that there was an "internal notification" that something went wrong. I enabled all the notifications for this app, so it's coming from you guys.
